DAZ Studio (Inactive)

DAZ Studio is a free, feature rich 3D figure design and 3D animation tool that enables anyone to create stunning digital imagery. This is the perfect tool to design unique digital art and animation using virtual people, animals, props, vehicles, accessories, environments and more. Simply select your subject and/or setting, arrange accessories, setup lighting, and begin creating beautiful artwork.

  • Pose/Animate/Render
DAZ Studio provides a powerful canvas to create the scene you visualize. Pose figures into the position you desire. Set the lighting for the perfect effects. Animate the figures easily with the aniMate tool set. Now render your scene and or animation to create the lifelike look you are after.
  • Improved Render Engine
DAZ Studio is now compatible with version 8.5 of the powerful 3Delight render engine. Improved performance and memory management reduce render times and handle heavy, complex scenes like never before.
Realistic and cartoon style render settings.
  • aniMate Lite
aniMate Lite takes a "building block" approach to animation. Pre-created animations are broken down into portable and editable chunks (aniBlocks) that can be arranged together into complete animation sequences. You can create complex animations by dragging and stacking aniBlocks into a timeline. You can then re-arrange, add, or delete the aniBlocks until the sequence is just right.
  • Visual Cues for Cameras, Lights, and Bounding Boxes
Tired of seeing bounding box lines all across your workspace? Wish you could more easily see exactly where the limits of you camera's depth of field were in relation to your subject? Want a better visual cue for the spread angle and falloff of your spotlights? All of this is now a reality in DAZ Studio 3. Special thanks to Dreamlight Studios for their contributions with these features.
  • COLLADA Import/Export
We are seeing many applications that are using COLLADA for import and export. We believe that it’s important to provide a robust COLLADA tool for you to fully utilize your models. We have spent a lot of time updating and customizing the COLLADA data exchange format. The old COLLADA format is available for a short time, but is being replaced with an updated tool with custom settings. The DAZ COLLADA export will provide a UI to customize your export options. The standard COLLADA is available from this window. However, we’ve created a preset option that helps users choose settings more easily. The DAZ COLLADA export should help with data exchange to DAZ 3D and 3rd party applications.

  • Inverse Kinematics or IK for more realistic posing in viewport.
Figure objects are linked for lifelike movement.
Pin joints to hold position while moving the figure. Pin the feet to the floor and move the hips to see the figure bend.
New manipulation tool with a sphere, and rings for each joint’s rotation.
  • Camera Cube for more intuitive viewport rotations and views.
You can pick on the cube and freely rotate your scene, or select different parts of the cube for quick and accurate rotations to; front, side, 3/4 views etc. Surrounding the cube are the tools to pan, bank, zoom, frame and camera reset.
Options are available to return to the docked viewport settings, this is found in the options menu by the cube.
  • Shape Tool
The Shape tool is a new and exciting way to navigate the morphs on a figure.
Rather than trying to find the morphs from a list in the Parameters Tab, you can now select your figure, and go to the Shape Tab and select the morph group to modify, then simply hover your mouse over the rendered image to see the morphs applied at 100%, or you can select the slider at the bottom of the image to dial the exact percentage you need to apply.
Drag the center box over the morphs to blend between shapes.
Drag several shapes down into a collector (similar to the puppeteer tool), add as many shapes as you need, then open that mixer to move the shapes and then blend between your shapes. This is a very fast and easy way to create unique shapes.
